Have you taken a good look at the ingredients of your anti-aging skin care products? I really mean looking at them and understanding what they are doing? I did that recently. Talk about being surprised! And not in a good way.
As someone who has taken care of my skin most of my life, I was very upset about reading the other ingredient in my anti-aging skin care product that chose, was mineral oil.
Why? Well, applying mineral oil to your skin prevents your skin from breathing by clogging the pores on the skin. Mineral oil also interferes with your skin's ability to naturally remove toxins, which can irritate the skin that leads to acne, chapping and dryness. And this is the real kicker, with an anti-aging skin care product with mineral oil in it, can actually lead to premature aging of your skin!
Oh yes, I almost forgot - applying mineral oil to your skin can also make your skin addicted to it. Look like your skin becomes addicted to mineral oil!
What is really annoying is I have used this product for about 15 years. Basically, I have accidentally made my skin worse!
How can this happen? Do not we have the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to see what is put in anti-aging skin care products? Come and find out no, we will not. You see, the FDA does not just adjust what is added to products for your skin. You are pretty much on your own. And if you intend to buy an animal, it's better, think again.
Let me share with you what more I've learned. First of all, let me give you a small background so that this information will make sense.
Our skin is the body's largest body. It contains collagen and elastin. Collagen gives strength and firmness, while elastin gives our skin the opportunity to be flexible. Both are proteins and over time tend to break down. When these proteins break down, signs of aging like wrinkles, wings and lines appear. The best anti aging skin care products are those that stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin.
There are many creams out there that are designed to fill in lines and wrinkles. Of course, it's just a temporary fix that is washed away with each shower.
The following are ingredients that you do not want to find in your anti aging skin care products.
It is obvious that mineral oil tops the list. Another ingredient to avoid is a synthetic derivative of coconut called dioxan. Dioxan often contains 1,4-dioxane in high concentrates. This ingredient has been identified by the state of California as a cause of cancer. Still, you can use these things for your skin!
We all like that our skin smells good, right? Sometimes it's also the deciding factor when comparing skin care products. right again? Unfortunately, most fragrances are made from ingredients that are known to be carcinogenic or toxic. To avoid creams with smells would be careful!
Then there are parabens. There are several types of parabens used as preservatives. Parabens have been shown to interfere with your body's endocrine system, can cause cancer and can cause allergic reactions and rashes.
Not something I want on my skin, but has probably rubbed my skin for several years.
Oh, and do not forget to forget about alcohol. Again, there are a lot of different alcohols found in anti-aging skin care products.
Alcohol absorbs most of the moisture and as such can dry your skin and cause irritation. Alcohol can remove the skin with natural protections that expose it to viruses, bacteria and molds.
Finally, theres collagen. But wait, I just said collagen is an important part of your skin - that it gives your skin strength and firmness?
Yes, I certainly did. But here is the case. Collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed by the skin when applied topically. Manufacturers use it as an ingredient in their skin care products to trick you into believing that their product is superior.
Weve has just examined some ingredients that you want to avoid when comparing skin care products. Now we can take a look at some good ingredients. Heres an ingredient that you want to find. Clinical studies have shown Xtend-TK, stimulating the recurrence of collagen and elastin. That's a good thing!
Then it's the powerful anti oxidant Coenzyme CoQ10. This ingredient is a naturally occurring substance that seems much like a vitamin and is very effective in reducing the negative impact that free radicals may have on your skin.
With time and age, the amount of CoQ10 contained in our bodies decreases and fills it helps our skin.
There are different types of CoQ10. Unfortunately, most of the variations found in skin care products are unusable when applied to the skin. The best form of CoQ10 is Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. Do not try to pronounce it, but look for it.
